Pancreatic insufficiency

Insufficient digestive enzyme production. When these digestive enzymes are deficient, some proteins and fats enter the large intestine unprocessed. Intestinal bacteria produce large amounts of gas, leading to abdominal pain and bloating. Stools are often foul-smelling and greasy. Abdominal pain occurs after eating fatty foods.

Pancreatic insufficiency can also lead to vitamin and mineral deficiencies and hence secondary diseases.
